Rocky River Chamber Music Society presents its first concert of 2015 on Monday, January 26 at 7:30 p.m. at West Shore Unitarian Universalist Church, 20401 Hilliard Blvd., Rocky River, Ohio. This unusual concert features a bevy of bassoonists (eight to be exact) led by the quartet, Men Who Don’t Bite. Two vocalists will also be performing.
Formed in 2007, Men Who Don’t Bite has performed at conferences and on various chamber music series in the Midwest and Southwest. The Quartet includes two members of The Cleveland Orchestra (Jonathan Sherwin and Barrick Stees), a Professor of Bassoon at Oberlin College Conservatory of Music (George Sakakeeny), and an Associate Professor of Bassoon at the University of Kansas (Eric Stomberg). All ten performers have extensive and varied experience in concertizing and music education.
The versatility of the musicians is expressed in the unusual program to be performed on January 26 in Rocky River. The works span six centuries, from 1597 to 2013, and encompass such styles and traditions as Renaissance, folk, classical, and modern. There is no admission charge for this concert, and all are welcome. To obtain more information call 440-333-4296 or visit www.rrcms.org.
